Food: the universal love language. Good food deserves a good beverage. Here are a few of my go to options when I am not reaching for wine.
A filthy little dirty martini recipe
3 oz. Vodka
.5 oz Dry Vermouth (I know vermouth has a bad rep but dont skip this step!)
1 oz. Olive Brine
Garnish- My olive of choice: Castelvetrano Olives
Chill a martini or coupe glass. In a shaker add vodka, dry vermouth and olive brine. Shake until frosty and strain. Garnish with olives.
My classic old fashioned
2 oz. Rye Whiskey
.25 oz. Demerara Syrup
3 Dashes Orange Bitters
3 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Garnish: Luxardo Cherry and an Orange peel
In a mixing glass filled with ice add whiskey, demerara, orange and angostura bitter. Stir at least 20 times. Strain over a large ice cube. Garnish with a luxardo cherry and an orange peel.
Okay enough mixology on to the food.
Bone in ribeye with a shallot red wine pan sauce, parmesan garlic smashed potatoes with cipollini onions. What more could you want. This is a great recipe for a steakhouse quality dinner at home. Elevated but easy.
